The one thing that I dreaded in elementary school was recess. Our school was located in the country so we had plenty of room to play. We often choose to play softball, which meant picking teams and that is what I dreaded.Usually the captains of the teams (the most popular kids) would choose kids with the most athletic ability, which left me out. Only those of have experienced being chosen last know the embarrassment.
God however chooses people for His team (The Kingdom) much differently. We do not need to be talented, gifted, highly educated or good-looking to be chosen. And He does not choose someone over another.
- “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (2 Peter 2:9)
- “Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” (1 Cor. 1:27)
We are chosen by Him and for Him.
