“ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Mt. 22:37
During my tour of duty in Vietnam, it fell by lot to occasionally pull guard duty. Guard duty was not a glorious or exciting task but it was vitally important. The lives of thousands sleeping comrades depended on your vigilance.
The Bible commands us to guard our hearts. “ Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it..” When the Bible mentions the ‘heart’ it does not mean the organ in your chest that pumps blood through the body. Rather, it means the center of life: the mind, will, and emotions. The ‘heart’ is the seat of our passion.
If we are going to avoid the sadness and the shame of failure in our lives, We must learn to guard the source of our spiritual and emotional lives.
