We all know that God’s ultimate will for all of us is that we might we conformed to the image of Christ. Romans 8:29 He uses a variety of methods to achieve that goal but there is one that we often do not recognize: People. God may use your spouse, a trusted colleague, your employer, even your children. God often gives insight to others about us so that they may reveal areas of our lives that we are totally unaware of. Proverbs 27:6 “Wounds made by a friend are intended to help…” You should thank God that they cared enough to confront you.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship…” God is shaping, molding, and building us into mature disciples of Christ. Sometimes He has to use others as His tools. He sends abrasive people into our lives to sand off the rough edges. Sometimes he uses people as a chisel to “knock off” serious character flaws. (OUCH!) Sometimes we are obstinate, so He sends a hammer.
But we often do not see them as God’s messengers but rather we see them as people who are trying to hurt us. Let’s welcome them as friends and not enemies! Isaiah 29:16
